1954 George M. Hill Associates Inc. founded
Consulting firm specializing in areas of personnel policy and procedures, supervisory skills development and leadership training.

1962 George Hill serves on Governors Council to reorganize the State of Ohio.

1964 Highland Farm real estate development founded
Several buildings plus 60 acres of land purchased.
Historic farmhouse converted to offices for Hill and Associates.

1967 George M. Hill Associates completes first multi-company test validation in the United States
Company receives letter of commendation from the director of the EEOC.

1968 Custom training division of Hill Associates established
Hill Associates developed innovative training format combining photographs, art spots, and written copy.
Large training program for Hobart Welding is completed. Within a few years all Welders in the world were trained based on the training program format designed by Hill & Associates.

1970 Career Guidance, Inc. founded
Testing and assessment division of George M. Hill & Associates spun off and formed into a separate corporation.

1971 Highland Farm real estate acquires adjoining farmlands

1972 Ted C. Hill joins George M. Hill & Associates
Ted combines techniques in programmed instruction with Hill & Associates graphic concepts to create more effective instructional documents and training manuals.

1973 Ted Hill builds How to Instruct On-the-Job Program

1974 Management Model developed
First model designed to demonstrate how to successfully lead and manage a manufacturing operation.

1976 George M. Hill Associates expands Management Model to full curriculum called “Productivity Now!”
Implementation of Productivity Now! programs dramatically increase quality and production levels in numerous manufacturing environments.

1981 George M. Hill Associates, George and Ted Hill start long-term relationship with Rubbermaid Inc.
Rubbermaid hires Stan Gault as their new chairman. Rubbermaid is a $400 million sales plastic products company.

1983 IPT Inc. is founded
In Process Training formed to provide a laboratory so as to scientifically validate the Management Model and Productivity Now! concepts. Experiments are conducted in employee screening and selection, training, workstation layout, and incentive systems.

1984 IPT builds one million labeling guns with zero defects
On a subcontract basis IPT builds a plastic labeling gun that is utilized to apply labels to products primarily in the retail environment.
Client’s plant has shipped error rate of 3%.
IPT has shipped error rate of absolute zero on one million units.
IPT maintains per person productivity 15% greater than client’s plant utilizing primarily part-time employees. (Mostly college students attending Miami University of Ohio.)
Quality level, production levels, and high profitability validate George Hill’s Management Model and Leadership Strategy concepts.

1985 IPT contracts with Huffy bicycle to provide all of their hardware packs

1986 Ted C. Hill joins Rubbermaid corporate staff
His mission is to establish corporate wide employee selection and technical training programs. Rubbermaid has expanded from eight plants to 18 and has doubled sales to over $800 million.
George Hill & Associates continues to provide survey and planning services for Rubbermaid. Career Guidance provides extensive assessment services to Rubbermaid.

1987 IPT is selected Huffy Bicycles’ Vendor of the Year

1988 Ted Hill receives Rubbermaid Chairman’s Award

1989 IPT is again selected Huffy Bicycles’ Vendor the Year

1989 Rubbermaid crosses One Billon dollars in sales

1991 Career Guidance Inc. is sold to then managing Director, Dan Averbeck, Ph.D.
Career guidance is renamed Applied Assessments, Inc.

1991 IPT Inc. is sold to general manager

1991 Highland Farms is sold and developed into $28 million Maple Knolls Retirement Community

1995 George M. Hill Associates becomes the Hill Group under new owner Chris Brussalis, Ph.D.

1998 George Hill forms Focused Management Inc.
Mission of Focused Management is to collect and refine his over 45 years of developing leadership and management concepts and programs.

1999 Focused Management editorial board formed
Based on George’s long-term association with Miami University of Ohio and almost 50 years of business consulting, he reaches out for individuals who had a commanding knowledge of leadership and management plus are masters at education and program design.

2000 Ted C. Hill joins Focused Management
Ted serves as Executive Director and Chief Curriculum Designer.

2002 Focused Management produces the Focused Management Leadership Strategy and Focused Management for Managers and Supervisors
The Focused Management Leadership Strategy is a comprehensive curriculum based on how to lead and manage an organization and built around the Focused Management Model.

2003 Focused Management produces the Focused Method of
On-the-Job Instruction and the Focused Method of Instructional Documentation

At this point Focused Management has produced over 5000 pages of notebook materials, instructor scripts, and overhead transparencies.

2005 Ted C. Hill becomes accredited member of the Institute for Independent Business
The IIB is a non-profit educational and accrediting organization with over 3000 members worldwide.
(Ted remains as Executive Director and Chief Curriculum Designer of Focused Management.)

2006 Focused Management starts process of converting leadership and management materials from classic notebook and overhead format to PowerPoint and downloadable documents
The goal is to convert the entire curriculum of over 5000 pages of materials to CD based formats.
Our vision is to produce high quality, affordable programs that result in “Better Management” and more effective leadership of organizations.

2007 Focused Management produces first digital programs
First digital disks shipped in July, 2007.

Ted Hill invited to present Organizational Troubleshooting program at Institute for Independent Business National Convention in Las Vegas.

2008 Focused Management develops unique Exit Strategy

Focused Management responses to the wave of baby boomers who will soon be selling their businesses by developing an Exit Strategy program that combines the Focused Leadership Strategy programs with a sophisticated selection methodology provided by Applied Assessments Inc. This results in an ability to identify and train a younger person to purchase a business from a retiring business owner.

Ted C. Hill is invited to speak at an international convention for business advisers in Orlando, Florida. He makes two presentations, one on the new Focused Exit Strategy and a second on How to Troubleshoot Internal Organizational problems.
